Candidate Profile

• Ideal candidate would be enrolled in a bachelors or master's program with concentrations in accounting, finance or business.
• Candidate must detail oriented, organized and able to multi-task effectively.
• Candidate must be able to work in office in Houston, TX at a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Activities

• Preparation of federal, state tax returns, and international tax compliance as well as transfer pricing documentation for various assigned entities.
• Prepare and process assigned quarterly state tax estimates.
• Prepare tax basis balance sheets and memos to describe applicable book/tax accounting treatment differences as assigned.
• Document tax workpapers and conclusions in sufficient detail with appropriate cross-referencing.
• Assist in preparation of quarterly and year-end tax provision workpapers.
• Perform special projects and research issues as assigned.

Context & Environment

• Develop a basic understanding of the business operations and industry specific tax issues for assigned companies i.e., Upstream (E&P), Downstream, petrochemicals, and other specialty chemicals and manufacturing businesses.
• Develop a basic understanding of the federal and state tax filing requirements and related tax issues applicable to assigned companies.
• Develop working relationship with appropriate accounting and financial reporting personnel at the locations.
• Work closely with treasury department for processing various tax payments.

TotalEnergies is looking for an undergraduate or graduate student to intern in their Tax department. If you are currently a Accounting, Finance, MBA student looking for hands-on experience, this opportunity is for you. This is a paid internship that will require you to work onsite at our downtown Houston office. The internship is for a year with a start date in June.
