MOHAWK TRAIL REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT Mohawk Trail Regional School 2024/25 School yearReading Specialist for Middle and High School Students - 1.0 Full-Time. Position to begin August 26th, 2024. DESE licensed Reading Specialist, or Special Education Teacher with credentials and expertise in reading instruction, to work with students in the middle and high school at MTRS. Mohawk Trail is seeking a team player with strong communication skills and compassion for working with adolescents who struggle with reading.


Responsibilities include: Working one-on-one or within small groups of students to provide direct instruction in decoding, fluency, and reading comprehension strategies Collaboration with special education and general education teachers to support students access to grade-level texts and literacy instruction in academic settingsProgram planning with district literacy coach, special education teachers, and curriculum director to develop student learning plans that optimize growth in all areas of literacyParticipation in students Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), including regular attendance at IEP meetings, progress monitoring towards individual goals, and progress reporting Design of data-driven IEP goals in reading, and delivery of evidence-based, specially designed instruction towards those goalsExperience Preferred: Familiarity with evidence-based diagnostic tools used to identify students individual literacy profilesKnowledge of multisensory language-based instructional methodologies Experience teaching students with specific learning disabilities in reading and dyslexiaKnowledge of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS)Forward cover letter, resume, certification and recommendations to: ktotman@mtrsd.org.
