About the Role:

As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in the mortgage process by validating income, assets, and collateral documents. Your excellent communication skills and commitment to providing outstanding customer service will be key to your success. You may work with various types of mortgage lending, including Conventional, Non-QM, FHA, VA, and USDA loans.

Key Responsibilities:

Review and analyze residential mortgage loan requests to determine approval or denial.
Assess financial statements, credit reports, appraisals, title reports, and other relevant documentation.
Validate income and employment information, along with the value of a borrower's collateral and assets.
Ensure compliance with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and USDA guidelines based on automated findings.
Document the reasons for loan approval or denial in the loan file.
Communicate loan decisions to internal lenders and processors.
Perform additional duties as assigned, with the possibility of occasional in-office work based on company needs (with advance notice).
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
5+ years of recent retail residential mortgage underwriting experience (FHA, VA, USDA, and Conventional) with strong agency guideline knowledge.
Familiarity with USDA guidelines.
DE, SAR, and LAPP certifications are a plus.
Strong understanding of ATR/QM Requirements.
Experience with Encompass LOS is preferred.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while meeting minimum production standards.
High integrity and a strong work ethic.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Knowledge of compliance and disclosure requirements, as well as closing, post-closing, and quality control responsibilities.
Preference for applicants residing in EST business hours.
