Position Overview:

We're seeking an experienced Manager of Business Development specializing in Commercial Landscaping to join our team. This role is crucial for initiating, managing, and closing new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and expanding our footprint in the commercial sector.

As we launch a new department in commercial landscaping, our priority is scaling our organization while consistently securing new projects. This growth phase requires a strategic approach to expanding our team and operations, ensuring we maintain our high standards and solidify our position as industry leaders.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of successful sales or partnership performance
  • Knowledge of sustainability topics, including Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) trends
  • Strong leadership ability with experience managing high-visibility projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics, MS Office suite, and Google Earth
  • Familiarity with commercial landscaping practices and techniques
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to various job sites (10-30% travel required)


Key Responsibilities:

  • Originate, manage, and close commercial landscaping project opportunities
  • Collaborate with leadership to devise and execute comprehensive business development strategies
  • Manage client interactions to drive growth and support project development efforts
  • Own and expand the pipeline of commercial landscaping project opportunities
  • Prospect, outreach, and network to cultivate new opportunities with commercial property owners
  • Track and manage the sales pipeline from initial opportunity through closing
  • Coordinate with internal teams to prepare and deliver timely and high-quality proposals
  • Establish and nurture relationships with commercial property owners, focusing on expanding our service offerings
  • Act as a consultant to advise clients on landscaping solutions and enhancements
  • Interface with client leadership to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities
  • Support project execution matters in collaboration with the operations team
  • Regularly interact with Landscaping by J. Michael leadership to align initiatives with company goals
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Design/Architecture, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant sales experience in landscaping, construction, or a related field is required, demonstrating practical knowledge and skills applicable to job responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of hardscape and masonry techniques, plant identification, irrigation installation and service, and snow operations and products.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining strong business relationships.
  • Proficient in customer databases, Excel and other Microsoft Office Programs
  • Valid Driver’s License willingness to travel up to 50% to meet business needs.
