An insurance underwriter's job is to assess the risk of potential insurance applicants and decide whether to offer them coverage:

* Review applications : Underwriters review insurance applications and supporting documentation.

* Assess clients : Underwriters evaluate clients' financial status, backgrounds, and other information, such as age, marital status, medical history, and driving record.

* Analyze risk : Underwriters use underwriting software to analyze the risk profile of potential clients.

* Determine coverage : Underwriters decide whether to offer coverage and, if so, what the terms and conditions will be. They also determine coverage amounts and premiums.

* Re-assess risk : Underwriters re-assess risk when policies come up for renewal.

Requirements:

Minimum of 2 years of insurance underwriting experience.
State insurance license (Property & Casualty).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Customer-centric mindset with a passion for helping others.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
Experience with insurance software and CRM systems.
Willingness to pursue professional designations (e.g., CISR, CIC).
