Under the general direction of the Deputy Director, Partnerships, the Government Relations Specialist (Staff Services Manager I Specialist)will be responsible for independently building and managing positive and productive relationships with the local, state, and other government partners. The incumbent will engage in active correspondence and collaboration with the department’s internal staff and all external Government Relations Working Group to maintain positive and productive relationships and ensure communication and processes are and contribute to OCPSC objectives.
The Government Relations Specialist will be a nonsupervisory staff specialist who will oversee the management, coordination, and maintenance of the Government Relations Working Group, as well as manage the flow of sensitive and confidential information and solution integration in support of OCPSC projects. Position will advise senior leadership on legislative developments, and manage OCPSC’s involvement in analyzing legislation, the annual state budget process, and coordinating work with state and local governmental entities. This position will require that candidates have a background in government relations, preferably state of California government experience, and communication to facilitate productive conversations regarding collaboration between OCPSC and state or local government officials. This position’s primary focus will be to create opportunities for the department to utilize existing or prospective government relations in support of the advancement of broad Office goals and priorities.
