Job Description:
Reporting to the Director of Events at Hendricks Chapel, the Events Coordinator supports the mission, vision, and values of Hendricks Chapel through scheduling, invoicing, and staffing of programs and services sponsored or hosted by Hendricks Chapel. The Events Coordinator assists with supervision and training of student hospitality staff (25 students), provides leadership for summer wedding programs, and serves as a key contributor for Hendricks Chapel as the spiritual heart of Syracuse University.

Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus 2-4 years office experience, preferably in an academic environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer the scheduling, invoicing, and staffing of programs and services sponsored or hosted by Hendricks Chapel. This responsibility includes oversight of reservation requests, coordination with vendors to provide appropriate technology needs, coordination with campus partners related to parking and catering, development of student staffing schedule, and tracking data and metrics for assessment.
  • Assist in the supervision of Student Hospitality Staff (approximately 25 students). This responsibility includes facilitating the hiring, onboarding, and shift scheduling of students, supervision of student staff to ensure quality control at all events sponsored or hosted by Hendricks Chapel, providing ongoing training for students and assisting with review and evaluation.
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of Hendricks Chapel-sponsored and co-sponsored signature events. These programs include Holidays at Hendricks, the Martin Luther King Jr. Annual Celebration, the Service of Commemoration, Blessing of Students, Sunday Gospel Jazz Service, and others.
  • In partnership with the Director of Events, provide professional presence for programs and events sponsored or hosted by Hendricks Chapel during off-hours, such as evenings and weekends.
  • Lead Hendricks Chapel wedding hosting, which includes marketing and promotions (in partnership with the Communications Manager of Hendricks Chapel), hospitality for guests, and communication with campus partners and external vendors.
