Engineering Technician (CAD, SolidWorks)

This is a one and done interview. This is a 3 month hire to fill in for someone on maternity leave. This is an immediate start as well. CAD and SolidWorks are the key.

W2 Only

Start out in office for the first 2 weeks then hybrid. The hybrid schedule isnt set in stone.

This position operates on a hybrid work model. On-site presence is required, though the specific schedule may fluctuate and is not fixed week-to-week.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Technician to support sustaining engineering activities at our Valparaiso, IN facility. This role is key in executing engineering tasks, managing change orders, maintaining CAD data, and assisting with testing and validation efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Support sustaining engineering projects by updating drawings, models, and documentation in SolidWorks.
• Execute and document Engineering Change Orders (ECOs/ECNs) and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs).
• Perform testing and validation on components and assemblies as directed by engineering.
• Interpret and update engineering prints and schematics per GD&T standards.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to implement product improvements and resolve production issues.
• Ensure all CAD data, documentation, and change records meet company and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on product reliability and manufacturability.
• Clearly communicate progress, findings, and issues to the engineering team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in an engineering support or CAD technician role within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks (required).
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
• Experience with BOM management and engineering change notifications (ECNs).
• Knowledge of GD&T principles (highly preferred).
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Mechanical Engineering degree or related technical discipline preferred but not required.
• Hands-on testing and validation experience is a plus.
