Job Description

Clinton Hill Community & Early Childhood Center is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our finance team. As an Accounting Assistant, you will provide crucial support to the accounting departmentensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations. This position involves managing financial records, assisting with the preparation of financial reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The role requires a meticulous and organized individual who can handle various accounting tasks and support the Staff Accountant and Controller in their daily activities. Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Process and record financial transactions in the accounting system
  • Prepare and maintain various financial reports and documents
  • Perform data entry and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
  • Assist in bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations
  • Assist with payroll processing and related tasks
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports
  • Provide support for audits and other financial reviews
  • Perform general administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, and scanning
  • Assist with other accounting and finance tasks as needed

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience as an accounting assistant or in a similar role
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Associate degree in accounting or related field
